Volunteering

The LeeShore Center has an amazing group of volunteers. Volunteer opportunities range from working directly with clients to carpentry work/repair:

Here are a few ways you can help:

Activities with victims & their children: to teach crafts, do cooking projects, demonstrations, story time for children, etc.

Front Office Support:  general office support

Group Volunteers: Is your group looking for a way to volunteer? Come in and do projects, plant flowers, help with special activities such as our annual Run for Women.

Grounds Projects: planting flowers, weeding, and mowing the lawn, spring clean-up

Office Support: general office support as needed in each of our components

Fundraiser Assistance: help with the annual fundraiser

Handy person: Is your best friend your toolbox? Do you have a garage full of building materials that aren't being used? We could always use a volunteer to help with the electrical, plumbing, and carpentry. Donations of materials are also appreciated.

If you have completed our Community Awareness Workshop

And are interested in working directly with clients, here are a few more ways you can help:

Advocacy Assistant: We are looking for volunteers to work one-on-one with clients (women & children), facilitate groups, interpret when needed, and assist with protective orders and other paperwork.

Court Support: Do you drop your plans to help a friend in need? Many of the women here need someone to give them support through the court process.

Life Skills Advocacy: Many of our clients are looking for a new approach to life. Volunteers are needed to model life skills and facilitate groups.

Sexual Assault (SART) Advocate: Do you stay calm in times of crisis? For many women who suffer a sexual assault, the exams that follow can be very frightening. We are looking for volunteer advocates who will support the victim during exams and work with local law enforcement and the sexual assault nurse examiner (SANE). We provide the training.

Applications

Each volunteer who will be working with clients is asked to take the Community Awareness Workshop on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault, and to submit a background check and fingerprinting.

To begin your volunteer process, either complete the online application linked below or print and complete the application and return by mail, email (ablatchford@leeshoreak.org) or deliver to:
